Residual Current Circuit Breakers

Productos eléctricos URSEA

Automatic residual current circuit breakers for domestic and similar installations are devices designed to protect people against electric shock and prevent fires caused by current leakage. They are covered by URSEA’s electrical safety regulations and must comply with the Electrical Accreditation and Verification System (SAVE). Their certification is mandatory because:

  • Detect earth leakage currents and automatically disconnect the power supply, protecting users against direct or indirect contact.
  • Combine residual current protection and overcurrent protection functions, providing a comprehensive solution for domestic circuits.
  • Comply with international standards such as IEC 61009-1, which establishes technical and safety requirements for this type of circuit breaker.
  • Ensure reliable performance under real conditions of use, including tripping times, sensitivity, breaking capacity, and electrical resistance.
  • Are mandatory for their import, commercialization, and installation in Uruguay, in accordance with URSEA provisions.
  • Provide peace of mind to users, technicians, and installers by ensuring they have been tested and certified by recognized bodies.
